>> The grand opening for Watts Healthy Farmers Market happens July 21, 2007, from 10 am – 2 pm at Ted Watkins Memorial Park, 103rd and Central Avenue, Los Angeles. Festivities include a carrot breaking ceremony, cooking demos with free samples, free trees and gardening advice, a market produce basket raffle, free carrot cake, and kid activities.

>> The Metro wants your feedback on the proposed Orange Line extension. 2 meetings next week’ll look at the Environmental Impact Report on the proposed northern extension of the Metro Orange Line that would connect the Metro Orange Line Canoga Station with the Chatsworth Metrolink Station. If you use, or want to use, the Orange line, put in your 2 cents at the meeting.

>> Baldwin Hills Environmental Health Summit, called to “expand open space and protect public health, air, soil and water quality,” happens July 21, 8:30 am – noon at West LA College, HLRC Bldg, 4th Fl., 9000 Overland Ave., Culver City.

>> Take the 20 gallon challenge, during this dry year in SoCal. “If everyone saved 20 gallons of water a day, the Southern California region would be protected against severe water shortages this summer.” Riverside’s already in an emergency situation.
