In addition to AltCarExpo in Santa Monica, Saturday will see eco-advocates group together all over the U.S. for Green Jobs Now, a national day of action demanding environmental activism and labor justice from our political leaders.

In LA, you can join the celebration at We the People festival, featuring live concerts, speakers from local nonprofit organizations, a food court, and a beer garden. The aim of the fest: To act as “a stimulant in social awareness and an encompassing platform within the urban community to inspire the involvement and active participation of the conscious urban youth populous throughout the country.” That happens from 2 pm to midnight at Los Angeles State Historic Park, 1245 N. Spring St., Los Angeles. Tickets cost $45 for adults.
Another youth-oriented event happening that day’s La Causa Green, which features a green job fair, entertainment, and refreshments. Plus 64 people between ages 17 – 24 will retrofit an affordable home, demonstrating green building materials. That FREE event happens from 9 am – 1 pm at LA CAUSA / Youth Build , 1117 Goodrich Blvd., Los Angeles.
In the evening, you can take in a special screening of The Garden — a documentary about the South Central Farmers. RSVP to greenjobsLA@gmail.com and attend the FREE event! It kicks off at 6 pm with a dinner featuring veggies from the South Central Farm, followed by the screening, at the Project Butterfly Loft, 821 Traction Ave #108, Los Angeles.
