- A new “carbon-free” desktop processor, C7-D by Via, is out! The carbon released to generate power to run the chip throughout its expected lifecycle will be offset by regional conservation, reforestation, and energy programs, initiated or contributed to by Via. Cool! (Tip from groby)
- Can’t say I’m a fan of hamburger — or “helpers” that come in a processed box — but Hamburger Helper’s “My Hometown Helper†grant contest might be able to get your fave neighborhood nonprofit some moolah. Just write an essay of 250 words or less here to enter. Every month through May 2007, one org’ll be given a grant of up to $15,000.
- Graffiti artist Banksy’s in LA! His show, Barely Legal, will be on Hunter St., from 12-8 pm on Sept. 15-17.
- Starbucks gets sued by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for discrimination — firing a Seattle woman with psychiatric disabilities.
- And if you didn’t know it yet, Starbucks is now podcasting — and their attempt has “got zero acidity, anemic body, an uninviting aroma, minimal complexity and its overall flavor is lacking,” according to the Chicago Trib. I can’t disagree — This podcast’s unnecessarily long, very corporate, and uber boring.
- And if you went to Dietrich to avoid Starbucks — Diedrich Coffee plans to close all of its company-owned locations and sell the most of the locations to Starbucks for about $13.5 million.
- For Westside peeps: To petition for extending the Expo line to Santa Monica, check out Westside Cities Council of Governments and its Westside Mobility Advocacy Toolkit (PDF) — which includes a sample advocacy letter to send to local, regional, state and federal officials.
What do you like better — the clicklist or the wistlist? Lemme know your thoughts in the comments — I’ll decide how to proceed from there.

I like the clicklist…I only wish I still lived in LA. By the way I’m going to be in LA Oct. 20-23. Have a great weekend.

I just learned of Banksy late Friday night… my brother was in town to see Tortoise so we had a quick hello at Canter’s and he told me about this project of his. I’m so bummed that I missed the show.
