Green speed dating’s back, now with its own website!

Green Speed Dating in Long Beach 8/25

Treehuggers — or to be specific, straight treehuggers between 25-45 years old with $25 to spare — are invited to branch out to date people with low carbon footprints:

When: Monday, August 25, 6 - 8 pm (arrive by 5:45pm to check-in)
Where: Morry’s of Naples located at 5764 E. Second Street in Long Beach
Cost: $25 donation to Developing Communities’ Solar School Project

Basically, you’ll meet 10-20 people of the opposite gender in quick succession and note the people you’d like to see again on a sheet. Post-event, you’ll receive your mutual matches.

To sign up, follow the unnecessarily complicated 2-step process outlined on the GSD website. I wish you green happiness.

NPR did a recap of the last Green Speed Dating event in Santa Monica in June. Apparently, one dude biked; the rest drove.

Update, 9/16/08: The next one happens in Culver City on Oct. 26, 2008!

  2. The GSD website’s taking suggestions for locations and stuff — Suggest an event for 45+!

  3. Hey Siel…

I was just kidding. I need speed (green or otherwise) dating like I need an SUV…LOL But thanks for the resource idea for other potential 45+’ers.

Hope you received the Watershed Poetry Mendocino email. Seven of the participating readers were part of the anthology of Mendocino women poets, “Wood, Water, Air And Fire” (Pot Shard Press, 1998, distributed by Bored Feet Press: http://www.boredfeet.com)…one of my favorite books of poetry…63 poets represented.

Ecopalooza website is being upgraded with new design and lots of features, including a Green Events Organizers Forum. I’m in touch with a NYC woman who’s interested in hekping to create a Green Standards for green events. If you know of other efforts for event Green Standards, please let us know. Thanks!

    Keep on keepin’ Green!

    Larry, in Mendoland.
