>> Enjoy good music while raising money for the environment with Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys, who’ll be at The Road to Copenhagen, a celebration and benefit for bold environmental action. Organized by The Generation for Change Foundation, the event also features DJ MUGGS of Cypress Hill, BOBO Meets RHETTMATIC of Cypress Hill and the Beat Junkies, and DJ AERO and SMILES DAVIS. Tickets cost $10 each, with all proceeds going to the Environment America Research and Policy Center.

>> The California Endowment invites you to Greening the Food Desert — a FREE event that’ll kick off with a a short panel discussion about market makeovers featuring youth from South Los Angeles Healthy Eating, Active Communities initiative — followed by a screening of Food, Inc. — then end with a networking reception. It all begins Tues., Nov. 17 at 6 pm at The California Endowment’s Center for Healthy Communities, 1000 N. Alameda St., Los Angeles. RSVP required.

>> Attend the L.A. Transportation Committee meeting to support 10% for bikes and peds along with other L.A. County Bicycle Coalition members! Yes, I agree it’s crazy that we have to fight to secure a mere 10% for non-auto transport. RSVP to aurisha@la-bike.org (not required, but requested), then be there Wed, November 18 at 2 pm at City Hall, 200 N. Spring St., Los Angeles.

>> I’ll be on a panel about Online Journalism and Blogging as a Profession with a couple online writers. So come enjoy refreshments and hear us talk Wed., Nov. 18 at 4:30 pm at University Hall 3226, Loyola Marymount University, 1 LMU Dr., Los Angeles. The event’s free and open to the public.

>> Participate in an online chat about Food, Inc. and the topics it covers — along with food advocacy groups Food and Water Watch and Community Food Security Coalition. Put together by Participant Media in conjunction with the DVD release of Food, Inc., the chat will give you an opportunity to ask questions and get immediate answers from experts. The conversation begins Thurs., Nov. 19 at 6 pm at livestream.com/foodinc.

>> A second “Celebration of Living Foods” promises vegetarian eats, raw desserts, super food snacks — plus teas and other drinks. There’ll also be an art exhibition and a charity raffle  to benefit Yoga Gives Back. It all happens Wed., Nov. 18 from 7 pm – 11 pm at Vernare Living Showroom, 607 N. Huntley Dr., West Hollywood. Cost: $20. Earlier: Celebration of Living Foods.

>> The Green Screen Environmental Film Festival & Salon will showcase well-known eco-films like Flipper and Crude as well as shorter pieces made by local community members. Plus, there’ll be lots of eco events, from a street fair to a bike ride and more, some of which are free! 4 days of activities and screenings begin Thurs., Nov. 19 and continue until Sun., Nov. 22, with most events happening at Electric Lodge, 1416 Electric Ave., Venice in Los Angeles.  Some events and screenings are free (keep reading below), but in general, pay $5 per screening, $10 for 3 screenings, or $15 for a festival pass excluding special events. Get tickets through Brown Paper Tickets.

>> The Santa Monica Museum of Art’s put together a Furoshiki Food Drive and Art Workshop! Simply drop off food or personal care supplies at the museum at Bergamot Station G1, 2525 Michigan Ave., Santa Monica, between Mon., Nov. 16 – Nov. 21 — and you’ll get a free voucher for a Furoshiki Thanksgiving Bundles workshop with Jay Lizo on Sun., Nov. 22, from 2 pm – 5 pm.

C.I.C.L.E. logo>> C.I.C.L.E.‘s Joe Linton — whom you may have seen at the Blogger Beach Cleanup — will talk about Creating Great Places To Bike! The event also includes a slideshow, short films, and handouts to get you biking — and to turn you into a bike activist. Be there Thurs., Nov. 19 from 7 pm – 9 pm at LA Eco Village, 117 Bimini Pl., Los Angeles. Cost: $5.

>> Join The Great Los Angeles Walk, the annual walk put together by Franklin Avenue to experience  walking down one major street in L.A. This year, we’re walking down two streets — Adams and Washington — on Sat., Nov. 21. Last year, I only walked the tail end of Santa Monica Blvd. — but plan to walk the whole walk this year!

>> Ride to Tweed, Moxie and Moustache bike ride,  a free easy beginner- and family-friendly bike ride that’ll tour historic art deco architecture. Joe Linton of C.I.C.L.E. will speak about some of the historic bridges over the L.A. River. Be there on Sat., Nov. 21 at 12:30 pm at Union Station.
