Sustainable Works Fundraiser>> Sustainable Works Second Annual Fundraiser: Tomorrow Starts Today is gonna be a great party with beer and wine, yummy organic local cuisine, an artists gallery, and an educational green room — plus KCRW DJ Michael Barnes, silent auction, and a drawing with great green prizes. The party happens Thurs., Sept. 10, 6 pm – 11 pm at Writers Boot Camp at Bergamot Station, 2525 Michigan Ave., Building I, Santa Monica. Tickets each cost $60 general, $50 for members, and just $20 for students with ID

>> Green the Block events happen across the nation on the National Day of Service — and L.A.’s got a number of events planned, including a talk by Portland City Repair’s Mark Lakeman and a tree planting plus solar and biofuel demonstration event. Sign up to get involved on Fri., Sept. 11.

>> Hear Siel speak at WordCamp LA! Come one, come all to hear about blogging, WordPress, green living — and also to offer the only female speaker at the all-day event some moral support. Be there Sat., Sept. 12th, from 9 am to whenever the afterparty ends. It happens at Loyola Marymount University, 1 LMU Drive, Los Angeles. Cost: $25 a ticket.
