This post’s by Damien Newton of Streetsblog LA, who catches you up on the latest local de-car-ing news:
Bike Lanes: After a public relations brouhaha in the Valley, it appears the LADOT is ready to expand the bike lanes along Reseda Boulevard. The new lanes could be in place by as early as next month, joining new lanes on Myra Avenue.
OCTA: Picking on residents of Orange County (or really any SoCal county) for their car dependency is almost so obvious it’s passe at this point. However, a recent article in the LA Times shows how the Orange County Transit Agency has gone into rapid decline the past several years with no end in sight.
Big Blue Bus: Has anyone noticed those rather odd advertisements on the Big Blue Bue advertising transit service to the Houston Airport? It turns out those ads weren’t placed by mistake. They were placed by an agency that sells empty ad space at cut rates to Houston’s transit agency. However, it remains odd that the ads are running on lines that don’t serve any airport.
BFF: That’s not Best Friends Forever, it’s the international Bicycle Film Festival that will be coming to town this week from Wednesday through Sunday.
