I finally got the poster up, left.
That’s a Fuck you and your H2 poster, given to me by a nice boy doleing out free eco-shwag after the enviro-blog panel in San Francisco in January. The poster’s made of a bunch of lil photos of people flipping off hummers.
This was the main reason I posed a Tuesday question about where to find eco-friendly photo frames sans glass. I found this one at IKEA yesterday — They seem to be made from some lightweight wood product, with a thin plastic screen. Yes, it’s recycleable.
If you think the FUH2′s just fluff, you haven’t read this NY Times article: “For Janna Jensen, it was the dirty looks and nasty gestures from other drivers that finally persuaded her to give up the family’s $55,000 Hummer H2.”
Social pressure’s actually making even the rich people give up their hummers. Hummer owners now have a rep as selfish, uncaring people — an uncool rep, at least for now. You know those H1s have gotten nixed, yes?
If checking out the FUH2 site and submitting your own photos to them isn’t enough for you, check out these Hummers are bummers T-shirts, yours for $17. They’re American Apparel, sadly.
And perhaps more importantly, stay the hell away from those hummers, and if one dares cut you off, you know what to do…
Update, 7/16/06: I contributed to FUH2!
Update, 8/2/06: Another subversive hummer-related website: ihumpedyourhummer!
Update, 9/10/06: Hummers are actually illegal on most residential roads in LA — Find out more here.

Adding to the H2′s heinousness is GM’s latest campaign – buy one, and get $1.99 per gallon gas for a year. I’ve probably spotted twice as many H2s guzzling around SoCal since that promotion started.

That is indeed heinous — I’m hoping the H2 will go the way of the H1 soon –

Why should anyone else be bothered what I am driving… I drive a H1 to work everyday, I have performance upgrades which now makes my H1 give 25mpg and 650bhp… I got bigger ventilated disks for precise stopping,
I am proud of my vehicle, I give a lot of moey to WWF and other charitites… all this you have written above is very biased and you are a loser.
Just coz you can’t afford it….. you wanna talk about good cars, go and buy a ferrari which gives 8mpg and then we will talk…..
You are just a cribbing idiot coz you can’t afford a Hummer… get a life.

We’re bothered cuz you’re stinking up our air. Ya know, it’s nice you’ve found a hummer to love, but I’m gonna have to break this to you: Your hummer can’t actually love you back –

Just wondering what everybody thinks about the new H3.

“We’re bothered cuz you’re stinking up our air.”
Nevermind the fact that the Toyota Prius requires so many specialized fabication processes that if you figure in the total expected energy cost to manufacture, drive, and recycle the Prius over it’s lifetime versus the Hummer’s lifetime, the Prius will use aproximately 3 times as much energy….
Who’s stinking up who’s air now?

Um, the hummers. You might be interested in an analysis of the CNW study here, which also links to an interesting interview with Spinella of CNW.
I’m not sure if you read much of the study itself, but its conclusion is: “To be quite up front, there is no actual conclusion to this study. It is, hopefully, only a beginning of a discussion about the social cost of energy.” The study’s hardly a win for the hummer.

The bottom line is that some consider a car as a mean of transport from point A to point B
While some consider it as a adventure, a source of passion and something they like… just as people go snorkling, mountaineering … some go driving… and it is people like these who buy hummers…. I really enjoy my drive everyday to work not because of the attention or anything … just the way my car makes me feel….
we will never ride a Prius and you will never ride a Hummer….
and everyone has his right in this democracy….

Dude — That’s so not the bottom line. The bottom line is that some vehicles are way worse for the environment than others — and we all share the environment. I don’t feel I should have to deal with the ecological havoc Hummers cause.

You should get rid of all the drag cars on espn because they use up 30 gallons for half a mile. you should get rid of airplanes, jets, any flying object they use up more gas than any car, truck, suv etc. You need to get rid of ferrari’s, aston martins, lamborghinis, I can go forever for whats worse or just as bad as hummers.

One thing at a time — starting with the hummers. We can move on to drag cars next :P
