The downtime was due to problems at my now ex-webhost, Sustainable Websites. Considering all the problems I’d had with these people already, the 8+hour outage was the last straw —

I’m now safely moved over to AISO, which so far I’m v. happy with. The switchover, btw, was way faster and smoother than it was with Sustainable Websites. Plus, AISO has solar panels run its data center and office, instead of just buying offsets as Sustainable Websites does.

I think a couple comments got a bit lost in the fray — However, I do get emailed copies of all of them, and in a couple days I’ll put ‘em in manually –

Update, 12/5/08:
The carbon emissions created by the electricity use of green LA girl readers’ computers while they’re on my site is offset by CO2Stats.com.

  1. Yay! Once again, you’ve come out as a great resource for random bits of greenness. Later this week my portfolio site (currently closed, but will be re-opening soon) finally comes up for renewal, and I’ll be moving my little self over to aiso!

The cost difference between my current provider and Aiso? About $30/year for comprable packages, but Aiso’s uptime is way better (and it seems, so is their customer service). Totally worth it.
