You’re sick of seeing another and another Starbucks opening up in your ‘hood. What can you do? Some kids found a lil culture jamming solution, back in 2002, via the Starbucks Invasion.
The group’s Are You Generic?, grassroots artist-activists who’ve come together “to protest, to question, and to disprove. Its nemeses are unethical corporations, censorship, the slanted media, hypocrisy, excessive advertising, and plain stupidity. Its heroes are art, discussion, independent thought, and creation.”
These kids went to a Starbucks-to-be in South Beach, Miami and spray-mounted a 6 ft silhouette of a man drinking coffee, with a caption: “I love a good Starbucks invasion.”
All you creative peeps: Hope this gives you some ideas.
