Ice cream and fair trade

205413700 1bf0b92d26 m Ice cream and fair tradeIf only I’d known about this before my 9 pm run to 7-Eleven last night for miscellaneous liquors and a pint of Ben & Jerry Half-Baked frozen yogurt — In April this year, B&J switched to fair trade coffee for all their coffee-flavored ice cream, including:

  • Coffee
  • Coffee Heath Bar Crunch
  • Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz

At $3.79.per pint, totally worth it.

  1. As a native Vermonter, I LOVE Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. But now that I live in L.A., I wonder if I should buy it at all, whether they use fair trade coffee in their coffee flavors or not. It has to be shipped across the country, in refrigerated trucks or planes. Shouldn’t I buy locally produced ice cream?

Or maybe Ben & Jerry’s makes ice cream at plants all over the country? I’ve got some research to do.

    Thanks for your great blog!
