Replants from Chicago’ll be happy to know that Intelligentsia Coffee‘ll be opening the doors to its SoCal store throwing a party in just 10 days or so, in time with the Specialty Coffee Association of America conference.
And there’ll be an unveling party, of course, dubbed Cuatro de Mayo:
When: May 4, 2007, starting 8 pm.
Where: Intelligentsia’s Roasting Works. 2737 N. San Fernando Rd. in Silverlake, Los Angeles.
What: Tacos, beer, coffee, music.
Who: [update] Coffee industry people.
Curious about Intelligentsia, a coffee company that ditched fair trade certification a while back? You can find out more about Intelligentsia’s stance here — and I’ll bug Geoff of Intelligentsia for more info at the SCAA conference –
Update: Tonx, who works for Intelligentsia, says the store won’t open until June — Theyr’e just having an unveiling party 2 months in advance. And the party’s really for coffee industry folks, he says — Sorry kids –

eek!
Actually this is more of a party for coffee industry folks at our not-quite-operational roasting works in Glassell Park. Our grand opening is still some time away. The actual Silverlake store doesn’t open its doors until sometime in June.
