2 posts about Eric Garcetti in one day! Cuz this enviro-friendly LA City Council Prez has a blog!
Which is where I found out about this interactive map of the LA area, avaliable at USA Today.
The map’s got its quirks — It took me a lil while to figure out that you have to use the neighborhood buttons at the bottom of the screen to get location specific info. Also, Anastasia’s Asylum closed a while back, and Mrs. Fields Cookies can’t really be labelled as a coffee shop, IMHO.
Still, I’ve been clicking around for a while now, not to discover new stuff but just to make sure some of my fave places are listed — Funny how addicting that can get :P
And environmentalists will be happy to know that the map shows some bike routes via red lines, AND it marks out Flexcar locations :)
Network maps for some other cities are viewable here.

Ya’ll know about Critical Mass? Siel said she was gonna join us in Santa Monica, but I haven’t seen her yet.

AUGUST RIDE UPDATE:
- We’ve got a great house party planned afterwards,
with a large backyard to fit us all. This is sure
to be our largest ride of the year, not one to be
missed. Festivities will include catered food from
Mama’s Hot Tamales, keg beer, music, raffle, crazy
bikes, bike films, beer, and…well, you know, it’s a
summer party! Please email me, if you’d like to help
out with last minute plans.
- Do you have a digital projector? We could use one,
as we’re planning on showing bike films.
- Do you or someone you know work at a bike shop? I’m
still looking to get some prizes and/or gift
certificates donated, for a raffle.
- Check out photos from the July ride:
http://www.nicolascv.com/bike/July2006/
- Do you have access to a photocopier? We always need
flyers for curious motorists and pedestrians. So
often we hear people say “What are you all doing?”,
as they stare at us in awe. This flyer is a great
response [3-per-sheet, 2-sided]:

After you print them, Kinko’s will cut the bulk stack
for $3 (2 cuts at $1.50 each).
Ride safe,
Zack

Critical Mass is a vision of a joyful, bike-friendly
world replacing our polluted, congested roads. We are
a demonstration against car culture. We are a
reclamation of our public space. We are a merry ride
through neighborhoods of Santa Monica, Venice, and
Marina del Rey with friends. Critical Mass is all this
and more, rolled into one convenient monthly ride
right after work. Ride with us!

Dude — I’m getting there! It’s just that Critical Mass usually starts after I’m already drunk. But I’m working on that, and am hopeful about taking part in Critical Mass soon –
