Bicycles: The Los Angeles Bicycle Coalition debuted its City of Lights program yesterday, giving out safety information and bike lights at the Carecen Day Laborer Center near MacArthur Park to a primarily Latino community. A related party happens tomorrow.
Rail: The Gold Line’s also gonna be known as “la Linea de Oro, Edward R. Roybal” — but the Spanish name only applies to the segment in Boyle Heights and East L.A.
Cars: California’s going to cut gasoline consumption by 25%, thanks to a new rule adopted by the Air Resources Board that “seeks to expand the market for electric and hydrogen-fueled vehicles and jump-start a host of futuristic biofuels to replace corn-based ethanol, as well as oil.”
Ford’s lost $1.4 billion but still say’s it’s doing okay sans federal aid. Meanwhile, GM and Crysler’s retired auto workers fear their pensions could get cut if the companies enter bankruptcy court.
