No one had bid yet on the Linda Loudermilk dress — up for silent auction to benefit Free the Slaves — when I got to the the eco-fashion designer’s preview reception & fashion showcase at EM & Co. in Los Angeles last weekend — but then the starting bid was $700 and the night was young.

L.A. fashionistas crowded into the boutique store to browse Linda Loudermilk’s new green styles — and take advantage of the sales on last season’s fashions — over cocktails, organic Honest Tea, and organic eats from the nearby eco-restaurant Natura.

If you have an interest in green fashion, you’ve likely heard about Linda Loudermilk — a lot. Her luxury eco pieces are beautiful, intricately-made, and not cheap — but the pieces aren’t any more expensive than those of other high-end designers who aren’t committed to environmentally-friendly and sustainable materials. Linda uses everything from the usual organic cotton to newfangled materials like SeaCell (seaweed) and Ingeo (corn). She upcycles vintage materials too — as you can see from the remade Korn T-shirt above. Her style has a real range — The Korn outfit definitely isn’t for me, but I wish I had the money to bid on the auction dress.

I’ll be wearing it tonight at Blogger Prom — along with a lot of dark makeup to make myself look as goth as possible (dress code is 80’s horridness). Wish me luck!
