Lit Thursday: Dead dreams digitized

Posted by Siel in art/lit/music,books (Thursday December 11, 2008 at 7:10 am)

After numerous rejections, Mary Patrick Kavanaugh actually held a funeral to bury her dreams of getting her book published by a major publisher. The Bay area resident writes on her site, mydreamisdeadbutimnot.com:

Attendees viewed the failed manuscript, rejection letters, refinance papers, useless MFA in creative writing, and the author’s much watched DVD copy of The Secret.

Of course, the website — as you might’ve guessed — is a promotional site for the once-rejected, now-self-published novel, Family Plots. Still anyone with dashed hopes is invited to bury them in the Cemetery of Dead Dreams.

I found out about this tragic site via The Book Bench, a book blog from The New Yorker that’s apparently been around since May, but only discovered by me yesterday.
