Romantic candlelight dinner too tame for your Valentine’s tastes? Then how about an eco-artsy street festival featuring burlesque and vaudeville performances, live art and music?

Put together by The Do Lab, Lucent L’amour 2009 is expected to bring thousands of people to downtown L.A. to take in a new live vaudeville show by Lucent Dossier Vaudeville Cirque, live music from ZTRIP, Adam Freeland and others from 3 music stages, and live painting and digital art.
The night’s green feature’s the Lightning in a Paintcan Project, which’ll have local artists working with used and recycled paint to create large art pieces on mural panels set up throughout the event grounds. Finished pieces will be sold through a silent auction, with proceeds benefiting Sonic Muze, a nonprofit that provides underfunded schools with music instruments and art supplies.
When: Valentine’s Day, Saturday, Feb. 14, 7 pm – ?
Where: 600 block of Imperial St. (between 6th St. to Jesse St.), downtown Los Angeles
Cost: $40 in advance at Lucent L’Amour’s website, or $45 at the door.
You must be 21 or older to enjoy Lucent L’Amour. Impatient people can get the $100 VIP Go Big Ticket for free valet parking, express entry, private indoor restrooms, and access to the Go Big lounge, which features a top shelf bar.
