Make film, save ocean

Inspired to act by the Altered Oceans series? Got a video camera? Here’s a lil competition for you

Shifting Baselines Flix Contest.
Deadline: October 31, 2006.

What’s shifting baselines? It’s about environmental degradation that occurs slowly enough that we fail to notice the changes, and forget how good we used to have it (informative video here).

For this contest, submit a 60 second (or shorter) “flix” about 1) anything that might give the world a better appreciation of the oceans or 2) shifting baselines — change, and the failure to notice it.

Check out some of the flix here, or the SB blog here.

Update: Don’t have a video camera? Stick Figure Productions, along with a digital cable company, is looking for people on the front lines of the green movement. Deets on sustainablog

Update, 4/24/07: The winners of the Shifting Baselines contest are finally announced.
