Which probably was reasonably quick for such a large law. Part of it was already in force since it also acted as an replacement of 20+ laws already in use. So know all chemicals in use (produced in the EU or imported into the EU) over one tonne per annum needs to be tested. There is a transition period of 11 years, so it will not be especially costly in relation to the annual turnover of the chemical industry. changes in exchange rate and similar external factors probabbly will have a much larger impact on their revenues...

American and other lobbyists (incl the European CEFIC) said REACH would be bad for world trade. I wonder why anyone would think that world trade is so much more important than good health?</description>
