Mar Vista Farmers Market turns 1 this weekend — and Mar Vista itself turns 80!

Thus, a dual-celebration: Mar Vista Celebrates! — a mega-community block party.

Where: Grand View Blvd. between Venice and Mitchell, Los Angeles.
When: Sunday, Aug. 5, 9 am – 3 pm.
Cost: Free!

The farmers’ market’ll just turn into a big party, basically. According to the organizers: “The combined festival will have over 100 booths with fresh produce and prepared foods, arts and crafts, an art exhibit of local artists, community groups and special play activities for kids.”

Entertainment will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on two stages, with performances from a lot of bands I haven’t heard of but could be good. Check out the list here; I’m just likely to go for the food. No word on availability of alcoholic beverages –
