Memories of a March marathon

Who looks happier:

me…

or the running “buddy” who abandoned me at mile 18?

Actually, I don’t blame him. I once ditched Seth mid-training run (okay – more like during the first mile) to have a waffle brunch with my other running buddy, Joe. I’d actually forgotten about this incident, until last weekend, when Seth kindly reminded me. Dude, I was hung over. It couldn’t be helped.

Seth – and pretty much all the people I used to run with, for that matter – seems to have a much stronger masochistic streak than I do, at least in terms of endurance sports. I’m still deep into a post-marathon drinking binge, while Seth’s signed up for a new torture program – the Honolulu Marathon.

This time, though, it’s pain with a cause – the AIDS Project Los Angeles. Check out his donation page, and don’t be frightened – He hasn’t put on 50 lbs; his photo just got stretched out.

Now – More gratuitous pictures from the LA Marathon in March (Ignore the time stamps. Jen’s old camera’s senile.):

  1. That was a fun day! After running all over town to catch you guys in action, Mok and I high-fived as if we had run the marathon. And it was almost as if I had, except that I was noshing on food while you guys were running hard. Good times.

  2. Seriously, I’m not sure I would’ve made it if it weren’t for you guys. After I passed you, it was all downhill — Seth got further ahead, I slowed to like a mile/15 mins, etc…
