Eco-conscious company Multeepurpose threw a grand opening party for it first concept store and cafe in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, bringing out everyone from westside ecopreneurs to the Little Tokyo crowd to mingle over organic Sambazon acai sorbet, Tru Organic Vodka drinks, and other yummy nibbles.

The event was a re-opening party of sorts, since the store had been open as a smaller incarnation before — and softly launched its reimagined, bigger and better version last month. Now, with the official opening, Multeepurpose is both a wifi-’d eco-cafe with organic, raw, and vegan eats and drinks — as well as an eco-lifestyle retail store offering organic T-shirts from Multeepurpose as well as green fashions from Livity Outernational and Revel 7 Jeans.

As part of Multeepurpose’s commitment to Effortless Activism, 20% of what you spend at the store gets donated to one of Multeepurpose’s 5 nonprofit partners — Chrysalis, Oisca, California Wildlife Center, Voices of African Mothers, and The Samaly Mam Foundation. Raffle tickets benefiting these nonprofits were sold at the party too — and I bought one, but left before the drawing — and before the “runway show featuring Multeepurpose models clad in moss bikinis.” Sad to’ve missed it!
Multeepurpose will also serve as a drop off spot for CSA California, for those who live or work nearby and would like a box of locally grown produce each week. Earlier: Locavoring in a box: Organic CSAs in Los Angeles
