My fruit bowl runneth over

If you came by the Tutti Frutti Farms stand at the Santa Monica Farmers’ Market between noon and 1:30 pm today, you’d've seen me weighing tomatoes and telling people that the strawberries are $2.50 a pack, $7 for 3 packs.

Unbeknownst to me, my friend Andrew’s been helping run this stand for like a year now. A few days ago he asked me if I wanted to sub in because he’s going on a trip for a few weeks. Thus, I get to play farm girl for the next 3 Wednesdays.

Best of all, I get to take home all the yummy organic produce I can carry for free. My fruit bowl’s full, as is my tub of strawberries — and I have yet more stuff in the fridge –

Strawberries, BTW, are like THE fruit you should opt to get organic if at all possible as they can easily be tainted — thus tainting you — with petrochemicals and other weird stuff. While I recommend the farmers’ market over Ralph’s any day, not all the farmers’ produce is organic. Since the farmers’ market’s one place where buying organic usually doesn’t cost any more than buying “conventional,” why settle for less?

So come by the all-organic Tutti Frutti stand and say hello next Wednesday :)
