Mysterious new organic wine at Trader Joe’s

Posted by Siel in organic (Wednesday March 22, 2006 at 12:24 pm)

Trader Joe’s had this wine featured up front when I walked in last Sunday.

I’m not a zin fan, but since the bridge/eco zin’s only $4.99 a bottle, I gave it a try.

I’m still not a zin fan. But if you are, check it out and lemme know your thoughts.

Why’s bridge/eco mysterious? Well, I can’t find a website for it. Which, in my book, makes it sorta mysterious.

What I know about it: bridge/eco’s grapes are certified organic (sulfites added). It’s vinted and bottled by bridge/eco in Cloverdale, Calif., and has two tasting rooms, in Boonville and Redwood Valley, shared with Fife Vineyards.

The bottle sports a Bridge Wine Group logo, but that site takes you to a site for Rockledge Vineyards in St. Helena, Calif.

I actually dug long enough to find a job listing that said this: “Bridge Wine Group specializes in the production of Anderson Valley Appellation wines, single-vineyard designations sourced from California, and wines made from organically grown grapes primarily from Mendocino County. We own and operate two bonded wineries: one in Anderson Valley, CA and the other is a custom-crush facility in Cloverdale. Our wines will also be featured at our two tasting rooms.”

Thus ended my procrastinatory adventures. Trader Joe’s also offers a bridge/eco white — a sauvignon blanc, I think.

Drink, enjoy, procrastinate :)

  1. I think TJ’s has this in a white variety as well. I tried it a few weeks back and it was very good, especially for the nominal price.

    My two favorite wines:

Anything from Benziger (it’s a biodynamic winery).

Anything from Lolonis Winery. They’re organic and use ladybugs to keep pests away.

  3. did you know that they just opened a Trade Joe’s at Union Square in NYC? people are crazy for it; I’ve tried to visit it twice, and both times they made you stand in a line outside the door to regulate traffic. the TJ wine store next door hasn’t opened yet, but I check it everytime I walk by. I didn’t think this was the case with the other TJ’s, but apparently the law requires that the wine store to be separate from the main shop.

Once it opens i’ll be sure to try that wine – i’m a big fan of reds (zin not so much though)

    take care! – jeni

  5. Siel–It was a Sauvignon Blanc, and although it wasn’t amazing, it was perfect for curling up with a book!

I’ve recently started drinking more white wine — dry rieslings are were it’s at!

  6. Really? I was at a wine tasting last night, and pointedly said “I’m only doing reds tonight” to all the wine pouring peeps — Maybe I should’ve made an exception for the dry rieslings!
