Hey Coffee boy -- Groundwork Coffee pays its coffee growers good prices for its coffee, but has opted out of the fair trade certification system much for the same reasons that Intelligentsia has (though Groundwork isn't happy Intelligentsia is moving into town).

Demian -- I actually thought we didn't have any Einstein Bros Bagels in LA, but it turns out we do have one -- on USC's health sciences campus!

Check out Groundwork Coffee (Venice, Hollywood, & Downtown) - they're completely organic, fair trade, and they're becoming carbon neutral.

Hi Siel,
I don't live in LA...just a bit further south in San Diego and I've made it my mission to find where all the sustaninable coffee companies are down here. I'm dumbfounded by the lack of knowledge of Fair Trade by the baristas answering the phones and serving coffee. These are people in the coffee industry! Feel free to read about my experience here http://greencupcoffee.blogspot.com/2007/02/fair-what-un-education-of-coffee.html
But I just wanted to say thanks again for being a voice, raising awareness and helping educate!

This is great news! Now we just need them to make good bagels, and I just might start patronizing them.
