Organic cotton bra at Whole Foods

Posted by Siel in consumerism (Thursday February 21, 2008 at 6:36 pm)

Last week, I found one eco-product I’ve never been able to find locally: An organic cotton bra. This I spotted at the eco-clothing section at Whole Foods, which seems to have more products every time I go in!

The soft cup underwire Ecoland bras are 95% organic cotton and 5% spandex. The downside: They’re made in China — and although a note on the box says “this garment was manufactured in a sweatshop free factory,” I don’t really have any proof aside from their word.

Still, I bought one, and love it. True to size, comfy, and padding-free — I really don’t like bras that can stand up on their own — and perfect to wear under T-shirts.

Get them for a reasonable $21.99 at Whole Foods, which also carries Ecoland panties. Unfortunately, these bras only seem to come in “natural.” I’ll have to go somewhere else for a comfy black one –

Here are my more comprehensive posts on eco-friendly bras and panties.

  1. I just discovered these too- fantastic! I’m planning on buying another and perhaps some RIT dye to dye it black. Perhaps that defeats the purpose of organic, but these bras fit me better than anything else I’ve worn!

  2. FaeriesDance.com has these same bras for $19.50 if you don’t happen to live near a Whole Foods – and they have other bras in colors other than natural, too. :-)
