Park[ing] Day doesn’t happen until Friday, but a discussion about parks and parking in LA starts wednesday. Don’t miss Park City, L.A., an event put on as part of the Center for Healthy Communities’ event series, Center Scene.
When: Wednesday, Sept. 17, 7 pm
Where: The California Endowment’s Center for Healthy Communities, 1000 N. Alameda St., Los Angeles
Cost: Free. RSVP here.
The description of the event:
If all the parking spaces in downtown Los Angeles were spread across one lot, more than 80 percent of downtown would be reserved for cars. And yet, two-thirds of the county’s children don’t have a park within walking distance of their homes.
This Center Scene Public Program explores how Los Angeles uses its land and what those choices mean for our health. Join us on the eve of the second annual Park[ing] Day LA, an event that raises awareness about the need for open urban space, to discuss how we can all help create healthy communities and make Los Angeles the right kind of “park city.”
Don’t forget to RSVP! And don’t miss Park[ing] Day itself this Friday!
