		<description>The LA river formed about 5 million years ago.  The &#039;LA river&#039; is no longer a river, but thanks to the usual foresight-lacking human planning is now a concrete aquaduct slapped on the river banks.  Something that Friends of the LA River advocates for, which I don&#039;t think I saw on this blog post, is taking out the concrete, working to heal the river ecosystem, and bring the river back to life.

Also, our river is also very dead right now because of all the factories in LA.  LA has more urban factories than any other US city.  There are some efforts to turn riverbank factories into &#039;green&#039; factories/a &#039;green&#039; manufacturing belt, although this has not received much public attention due to the politics involved.

I&#039;m not sure why there were so many little easter baskets around. It looks like a shipment of baskets somehow got dumped in the area. There were a number of other random things too -- like a bunch of koosh balls in different colors.</description>
