Love that floating plastic bag scene in American Beauty? LA-based multi-media artist Dianna Cohen says the plastic bag “inherently contains energy” — and will share her vision in her new solo show — titled “Cycle” — which’ll feature meticulously sewn recycled plastic bags.

When: Opening Reception on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, 7 pm – 11 pm; exhibit runs until Oct. 4, 2007.
Where: epOxybOx Gallery, 602 Venice Blvd., Venice.

epOxybOx, an eco-oriented gallery and event studio, describes Dianna’s work thusly:

Ms. Cohen’s pieces reflect her innate ability to find beauty and purpose in items destined to be byproducts and waste of consumer society…. She discusses Recently banned in several provinces in Australia, in Ireland, and now in San Francisco, plastic bags are the primary materials that have captured Cohen’s artistic and social sensibilities in the majority of her art works for the last fifteen years.

And in addition to the art, there’ll be organic yummies. RSVP to info@epoxybox.com.
