Green shops aren’t immune to the economic downturn. Eco-boutique Regeneration’s going out of business!
“Looks like we’re going to be another casualty of the economy!” wrote storeowner Kelly in an adieu email. This 2-year-old store in Eagle Rock was a one-stop shop for everything from locally-made jewelry to Ecoist purses, Bamboosa tanks to bamboo tableware. I’d even made a special trip to the east side in 2006 to buy a pretty necklace and a felted pilow, fairly made in Nepal….
Neighborhood shoppers are saddened by the news: Lucinda Michele at Metblogs LA has vowed to hit the store’s going out of business sale with a vengeance.
That sale’s one of two silver linings for Regeneration shoppers. Many items have been marked down, and the store will stay open until about 5 pm on Christmas Eve (regular hours are noon - 6 pm, Tue - Sun). Regeneration will be closed on Christmas day, but will reopen again the next day — and an an extra 20% will be knocked off already marked-down prices.
As of yet, it’s unclear when the doors will actually close on Regeneration, though prices will continue to go down as long as the store stays open. But here’s the second silver lining: Both the Regeneration website and Etsy store will stay open for business for shoppers everywhere.
