If you get the Mexican Hangover Scramble at Jack N’ Jill’s — with veggie chorizo and a side of hash browns ($9.99) — know that you’re ordering an awful lot of food. Your hung-over eyes may be way bigger than your stomach.
Lately I’ve been focused on how much loafing a cafe-restaurant allows. Jack N’ Jill probably falls somewhere between the brisk business of Urth Caffe, where I generally feel rushed by the crowds, and the slightly more relaxed, hang out and read a while pace at Literati Cafe. All of these places, though — with their order at the counter, take a plastic number to the table set up — are more brunch spots for yummy eats than lazy coffee shops for loafing.
Still, I did sit in the upstairs balcony section of Jack N’ Jill’s and made a good dent in Bright Lights, Big City while working on the scramble — yummy, if heavy — and sipping on organic coffee from Peerless Coffee & Tea. Free refills!
The front display at Jack N’ Jill’s showcases pretty cupcakes, and the menu boasts organic produce and hormone-free dairy products. Tea drinkers can sip on organic, fair trade Numi tea. And breakfast’s served all day –

You’re serious about that “Bright Lights, Big City,” aren’t you? Also, you don’t get hung over, do you? Word on the street is that you can knock down a dozen glasses of wine with NO ill effects.
