Restaurant review: M Cafe de Chaya

I can’t do raw, but maybe I could go macro.

Great thing about the macrobiotic diet — not only does the food come cooked, the diet also includes fish. M Cafe de Chaya serves a juicy grilled tuna burger, I found out about a week ago.

Besides the grilled fish and sushi, the macro diet’s pretty much vegan. No red meat, poultry, dairy, or eggs. At M Cafe, the food’s also mostly organic.

The pastries looked really yummy too, but after the burger, organic fries, and a seaweed salad, I had to pass on dessert. My only criticism’s that the “spicy yuzu mayo” on the burger got a bit heavy. Tasty at first, but too greasy about half way through. I’ll have to ask for it on the side next time.

Order at the counter, take a number to your table — either indoors or outdoors. Hannah and I had an early dinner at like 5 pm, but the place was already getting pretty busy!

M Cafe de Chaya. 7119 Melrose Ave. Hollywood. 323.525.0588. Mon – Sat 9 am – 10 pm, Su 9 am – 9 pm.
