oh, it got cut off, I meant to end with this quote from the Avocado Declaration (green on the outside, green on the inside):

"Since the Civil War, without exception, the Democratic Party has opposed all mass struggles for democracy and social justice. These include the struggle for ballot reform, for the right of African Americans to vote and against American apartheid ("Jim Crow"), for the right to form unions, for the right of women to vote, against the war in Vietnam, the struggle to make lynching illegal, the fight against the death penalty, the struggle for universal health care, the fight for gay and lesbian rights, and endless others.

****Many of these struggles were initiated by or helped by the existence of small third parties."

Cheers,
Lisa

Then re-register Green Party and help to build the Green Party. The Green Party aims to be the electoral arm of the green movement--we need people with Green values to support and continue to build the GP.

Approx. 3 Times as many people who were registered Green voted for Peter Camejo for Governor of CA in 2002. Give the GP more credibility in the media by registering your values.

You all know the extreme hurdles independents and third parties face in our country of winner-take-all, obscene money rules politics. Can't get elected to Congress without being a millionaire plus, 95% of races aren't even a two-party race --they are a done deal because of redistricting, a Green Party friend of mine ran for LA City Council and it takes 1/4 million dollars to be competitive there (yes.. ughh...), regular people with wonderful ideas are blocked from the get-go in our system, and on and on...

And please proceed with extreme caution in regards to Al Gore re-entering the political arena. The book i want to read is the one he can write when he is 80 and it is all over--about why he didn't do anything when he was in the White House for 8 yrs.

Don't get all excited and sucked into thinking the Dems are going to be anything other than a corporate driven party, unrepresentative of vast numbers of "average" folks.

Read the Avocado Declaration, by Peter Camejo, The Avocado Education Project (AEP) educates about the history of struggles for democracy in the United States and their relationship to a multi-party political system. Americans have repeatedly called for a multi party democracy throughout our history. Since the founding of the United States of America, the political establishment has rejected moving towards a multi-party framework. http://www.cagreens.org/longbeach/avocado.htm#dec

" Every major gain in our history, even pre-Civil War struggles --such as the battles for the Bill of Rights, to end slavery, and to establish free public education-- as well as those after the Civil War have been the product of direct action by movements independent of the two major parties and in opposition to them."

> See the movie An Inconvenient Truth

> Go to climatecrisis.org under 'take action' and take the test :)

> Display a bumper sticker or wear a Carbon Neutral tee shirt http://carbonneutral.2truth.com/

> Write a "letter to the editor", a guest op-ed column, blog entry, essay, or article

> Strive to become carbon neutral
