Jamais Cascio of Open the Future’s started a futures meme, asking the tagged to “Think about the world of fifteen years hence.”
The Qs, and my answers:
What do you fear we’ll likely see in fifteen years? The extinction of polar bears, except maybe for Knut (right). This is a fear that, at this point, I think’ll inevitably become realized.
What do you hope we’ll likely see in fifteen years? Strong international, national, and state / local government-level initiatives that’ll strictly prohibit the externalization of corporations’ operating costs on the environment and public at large.
What do you think you’ll be doing in fifteen years? This thought’s scary, cuz I’d be 43. My hope’s that the soul-searching I’m doing now will pay off so that I won’t get severely depressed in middle age, immobilized with regret I’ve already wasted most of my life. Perhaps I shouldn’t be thinking of the future in negative terms, but most people I run into in their 40s often emit this overwhelming sense of disappointment and resignation….
I’m tagging Meg of xoom, Russ of Contemplations, Jasmin the Worsted Witch, Chris the Beer Activist, and Summer of BTC Elements.

I’m too scared to answer!
