Yes, I tried some of the other suggestions made when I bemoaned my wine stained shirts. I tried scrubbing with salt and club soda: nothing. I tried white wine: nothing. I tried looking for baking soda and cream of tartar at Trader Joe’s but couldn’t find them, and so held off on those.

But I did find the enviro-friendly Oxy Brite, and tried soaking the shirts in warm water with a couple scoops of the stuff for a couple hours — et voila! Check out my newly de-stained shirts, below.

  1. Geeze, Siel, if I were you I’d say that I loaned my shirts to a construction worker. Those are some hefty pit stains, girl! And was it just a camera or lighting trick, or did the Oxo Brite actually change the color of the clothes?

  2. It’s just the light — no change in the original shirt color :)
