Be the first to watch cutting-edge films from Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Thailand. The 1st Annual Subtitle Film Festival’s happening next weekend, from April 12-15, 2007, at the new MPARK4 Theatres in Koreatown.
I’ll be there on opening night to see Memories of Tomorrow, directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi and starring Ken Watanabe (Letters from Iwo Jima, The Last Samurai). The synopsis:
Saeki Masayuki, a brilliant advertising executive [is] diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in the prime of his life. A beautiful and profound interplay of dream and remembrance, Memories of Tomorrow reveals the intimate struggle of a man who is losing the ability to distinguish past from present, whose only constant is the unconditional love of the family from which he is slipping away.
Plus, the opening night film features a cocktail reception and gift bags for all the guests :)
The festival’s put together by Subtitle Media, a nonprofit “dedicated to raising the awareness of Asian and Asian American achievements in the arts.” Get tickets in advance online for just $8, or for $10 on the day of the screening at the MPARK4 Theatres box office.
