The weather’s been perfect here in SoCal this week. Oh wait, it’s always nice here, almost. Still, a change in season usually means wardrobe changes. So — Some tips on looking hot while staying cool and green this summer from green fashionistas:

Out with the Old, In with the…Old, says Summer Bowen, owner of eco-conscious boutique BTC Elements — and also a friend of mine. Save money and the environment by trying out a few green fashion tricks “before smacking down the plastic for an entirely brand new eco-wardrobe.”

Eco-conscious model Summer Rayne Oakes gives you the skinny on fair-trade fashion. Get the basics on fashions made by people given fair wages and good employment, plus find out where you can get some of these outfits.

When you hit the beach in your vintage or organic cotton swimsuit, don’t forget the sunscreen. Opt for brands that use use titanium dioxide or zinc oxide as the active ingredients, and avoid other weird chemicals with estrogenic properties, which can confuse the body’s natural hormonal balance, advises Amy Stodghill of Green Options.
