Catching up on all the different events from the last couple weeks or so here, now that, post-voting, I’m back to my regularly scheduled programming :)
Went to my first Sustainable Business Council event — on my birthday, no less — to eat, drink, and be green :) It was a pretty, yummy event at Knoll, a forward-thinking workplace furnishing store that boasts sleek, eco-friendly design.
Sustainable Business Council’s a nonprofit that was founded just last year by some green biz execs. The goal: To serve LA-area “businesses and individuals working with sustainable products, services and processes.” You can get on the mailing list here.
The event was packed, despite the $20 cover! This was definitely a biz crowd, more than the enviro activist crowd — Not that the 2 are mutually exclusive!
In fact, it was fun meeting people who seemed a lil out of their element — Several people I met basically said that they’re not involved in the enviro movement — and neither’s the company they work for — but they’re interested in “moving in that direction.” Cool.
The theme of the night: Green Building and Design. Which meant I had to pause the drinking for an hour or so for a lil panel — moderated by Frances Anderton, host of KCRW’s DnA.
Afterwards, I went a lil crazy with the camera, as did the people standing in front of it. The pics are of Anna, Ferris, and me :)
In any case — If you’re part of a green biz, you really have a lotta ways to network now. There’s SBC, the Green Business Networking, Green Drinks, and prolly some others I’m missing –
