Sustainable Works Fundraiser: An eco-night out with a cause 9/10

Whether you already know the Santa Monica eco-nonprofit or not, you won’t want to miss Sustainable Works Second Annual Fundraiser: Tomorrow Starts Today — because it’ll be a great party.

Judging from the photos I (above) had a great time at last year’s fundraiser — and this year’s will be much bigger. There’ll be beer and wine, yummy organic local cuisine, an artists gallery, and an educational green room — but most importantly, you’ll meet local green movers and shakers to mix, mingle, and commiserate with about the wildfires or all the other scary ecological disasters happening around us — before dancing the eco-stress away with KCRW DJ Michael Barnes.

Sustainable Works FundraiserPlus, you could win great green products and services by bidding in the silent auction or buying tickets for the drawing. Among the goodies are “Clean Energy for America” posters from Shepard Fairey, gift certificates to Rustic Canyon, Border Grill, Euphoria Loves Rawvolution, and other eco-eateries, yoga classes, green beauty products, and much more.

When: Thurs., Sept. 10, 6 pm – 11 pm
Where: Writers Boot Camp at Bergamot Station, 2525 Michigan Ave., Building I, Santa Monica
Cost: Tickets each cost $60 general, $50 for members, and just $20 for students with ID

Where will your money go? Sustainable Works offers a Residential Greening Program — super-cheap, eco-educational green living classes that teach people how to green their lives. And for businesses in Santa Monica and Culver City, Sustainable Works offers  Green Business Certification.

Plus, fundraiser attendees will automatically get Sustainable Works membership — which’ll give you regular members only eco-info emails, a quarterly newsletter, discounts with local green businesses through a program that’ll launch by the end of this year — and discounted admission to the 3rd Annual Sustainable Works Fundraiser when it comes around in 2010.

Can’t make it to the fundraiser? You can still buy tickets for a chance to win a 2-night stay at eco-luxe hotel Ambrose, a 6-month membership to Yoga Works, or a $100 gift certificate to Whole Foods, assuming you’re not boycotting the chain. Those tickets, available by emailing fundraiser@sustainableworks.org, cost $5 each or $20 for 5.
