121631569 df4435b497 m Sweet cocoa and all fair trade!Want fair trade sugar — in your fair trade chocolate?

Most of you already know we have fair trade chocolate on the market. More recently, we got fair trade sugar. And now, Equal Exchange’s put the two together!

Equal Exchange sent me some of these bite-sized “Minis” — and I almost couldn’t stop eating ‘em! But I gotta save at least some of them to give out to my students next week — Spread the fair trade yummies :)

The deets: Vegan. Kosher. 55% cocoa content, from cocoa farmers in the Dominican Republic and Peru. Sugar from co-ops in Costa Rica and Paraguay.

Want some? Get them here. Or — If you wanna buy in bulk, you can: Here’s the link for fundraising and for wholesale.

  1. Hey, that’s the right size for Halloween candy!

  2. Has anyone been able to find Dagoba chocolate bars? I have a tin of their cocoa brought back from Boulder but can’t find the bars…they’re fair-trade, sustainably farmed, organic, vegan, and all that jazz.

  3. Hey MacroGal, I’m a fan of the chai-flavored one, but only very occasionally because the ginger taste is quite strong.

  4. Jasmin! Where do you find it? I’m in LA and pickins are surprisingly slim

  5. Hey MacroGal — You might wanna try Co-opportunity, since you’re already in Santa Monica. They definitely have Dagoba cocoa, though I’m not certain about the bars — Still, an excellent shopping choice :)

  7. Mark — So sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier! I asked Rodney of Equal Exchange about your q and got an answer, below. Hope it’s helpful — and best of luck with the fudgemaking! :)

This kind of request – for quantities greater than normal consumer usage, but way smaller than real wholesale or industrial use – is always hard, if not impossible to fulfill. In this case I’d say there best chance is to call the various Fair Trade cocoa/chocolate licensees: http://www.transfairusa.org/content/certification/licensees2.php#cocoa

Or, hope that the 100% Fair Trade artisan chocolatier, Sweet Earth, can & will help him out.
