Oops--for anyone who reading the end comment, rather than from the top down... comment 16 links to comments 14 and 15. That is, the t-shirts I'm referring to in Comment 16 are on the site www.ElementEcoWear.com. Sorry for any confusion!

In reply to David Rice's comment--several people suggested this, so I did lower the price on my site for unprinted t-shirts. The shirt referred to in this article is now just $20 unprinted for women's (classic feather tee) and $22 for men's (classic tee).

Interestingly, I have a web survey up on my site right now, and one question is whether people prefer the same price for tees with and without graphics, or to pay less without and a little more with. So far the response is about 40:60, with the slight edge on paying less without.

It would be great if we could purchase plain Ts without the printing costs.

Good news to some who love the eco-fashion but don't want the particular logos on the shirts mentioned. I recently opened an online store which carries a very similar shirt from the same supplier; mine is just a regular tee, not the raglan sleeve version. And the eggplant is a gorgeous color! You can buy the shirt plain or customized with a choice of more than 300 graphics for just $26. I also offer low price shipping, and many other t-shirt styles and colors. And of course, a portion of proceeds are donated to eco-causes as well. For more info, see www.ElementEcoWear.com. Happy greening! :o)

I like the angst of a shirt which reads "Read my blog, dammit!" but doesn't specify the URL.

great idea about "read my blog" and maybe you could write and ask if their are custom shirt options.

my advice to you: turn the shirt inside out! write on it yourself, sew something else on or just leave it plain!

i have no particular issue with slogan-bearing clothes, but i do find i don't wear them very often because when i'm in the mood for the cut/color of shirt, i'm not always in the mood for what it says and vice-versa. ultimately, if i'm never going to use it, it's not a terribly eco purchase.

Just to be clear, I'm not against personal slogans (or colors) -- I just feel weird about wearing it publicly, b/c it feels a bit like I'm telling others what to do. For the most part, the messages on these T-shirts ARE commands, after all.... Imperative sentences, I think is what we called them in jr high....

But since many people seem cool with the messaging, maybe I should buy a shirt with the slogan "read my blog, dammit" :P

Having checked the meaning of diadactic - I agree.

If it's about how the tee's came to be they speak to that. The hand print of the sewer would work for me, or something that is less easy to write off - like Turkish bamboo.
