Always miss your local farmers’ market day, despite your best locavoring intentions? In Hollywood, farmers’ market day’s now everyday thanks to The Farmer’s Kitchen, which celebrated its grand opening and dedication yesterday.

“Seven years ago, a new dream was born — The idea of creating a place like this which would be a permanent place for the Hollywood Farmers’ Market,” said Michael Woo, board chair of SEE-LA, the nonprofit behind creating that market. “Not just closing down at Sundays at 1 o’clock in the afternoon but the idea of having a restaurant, a cafe, a store, and a kitchen where courses can be taught to the public … every day of the week.”

That dream’s now a reality, and many Angelenos came out to taste it! A tasty lunch made with local produce, free range chicken, and even grassfed bison — all from farmers’ market vendors — was served to the hungry crowd that attended the opening.
Local elected officials also came to speak glowingly about the new eatery. “We have something happening here in Los Angeles which is nothing short of a food revolution. And that’s what we’re celebrating here today,” said L.A. City Council President Eric Garcetti (right, with Michael Woo) — who’s already blogged about the event. “With the Farmer’s Kitchen, this is the dream of making sure this experience we have on Sundays is not just a Sunday ritual, but becomes a part of our lives.”

Stop by The Farmer’s Kitchen this week for White Bean & Leek Soup, Grilled Chicken Sausage and other seasonal dishes sourced from the Hollywood Farmers’ Market.
