So I was thinkin’ ’bout throwing a party, and guess what arrives in the mail: Simply Green Parties.
Written by eco-celeb Danny Seo, the book throws out a buncha doable, green ideas for throwing an eco-friendly party :)
For ex: Don’t got modmix? Despair not. Simply Green: Parties has a recipe for Frozen Watermelon Martinis — made from scratch. All it takes is an organic watermelon and peach, organic vodka, and some organic fair trade sugar ;)
And this lil book answers some of those age-old conundrums — i.e. How can I turn oyster shells into tea lights? What solar lights should I buy? Why organic roses?
Now, there are things in the book I just wouldn’t do. I mean, I skipped over all of “Party Two: A Baby Shower” for obvious reasons.
And Danny does have some rather reused re-use solutions — which led to 4 different recycled coaster projects, re-using leather belts, wine corks, chopsticks, and ceramic tiles. Yes, you can take old stuff and put glasses on top of ‘em. On the upside, you’ll never have to buy a coaster again :)
Still, the book makes you rethink how you party. I was especially impressed by the “Seven tips to turn any caterer organic.” Inspirational! And the very last section, “Where to find everything you need,” tells you, you know, where you can find everything you need for yr green partay.
And if you get the book and still can’t find yr questions answered, then try asking me :) I’ll do some research for you, organic watermelon martini in hand –

Fallen in love with Danny? Stalk him via his blog, and read interviews with him on Treehugger, where he sez he’s “like an eco Rain Man,” and on Grist, where he sez he was born on Earth Day, and so each bday he heard ’bout “problems with the whales and the rainforests and all these really horrific, scary stories.”

I love Danny Seo
