If you’ve been following Foster’s LA River series on WorldChanging LA, you might be itching to go on a tour of your own.
Luckily, another tour’s coming up, organized by the Friends of the Los Angeles River (FOLAR). And I’m signed up to go! Join me —
What: A car-caravan tour of the LA River, led by Jenny Price, an environmental writer, who recently wrote “Thirteen Ways of Seeing Nature in L.A” for The Believer.
When: Feb. 17, 2007, 10 am
Where: Meet at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens 570 West Avenue 26 in the Cypress Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. (PDF map here)
Cost: green LA girl readers can take advantage of the $25 member rate ($35 regular rate).
This self-driving tour lets participants form carpools at the starting point, then caravan together from location to location on the River. All participants will get a free color map of the river! Bring your own lunch and water.
Reserve your ticket here, via paypal, or mail your check to FoLAR, 570 W. Ave 26 #250, Los Angeles, CA 90065. If you have questions, call FoLAR at 323.223.0585.
Update, 5/12/07: The next tour of the LA River happens on Saturday, May 19.
