Tuesday questions: Green host for green LA girl

Posted by Siel in questions (Tuesday October 17, 2006 at 2:14 pm)

A series that runs every Tuesday, where I ask questions unrelated to the environment, fair trade, or local politics that I’ve been wondering about but haven’t been able to google the answers to. Any advice is appreciated.

So I wanna switch to a green site host for green LA girl.

I thought I should start the research now — My contract with bluehost, my current host, expires in December.

Got suggestions? I’m especially looking for testimonials about green hosts my readers have actually used and loved :)

  1. The Change is hosted by sustainablemarketing, Siel. We have had one incident when our site went down for a few hours. But customer service has been great. Ivan Storck, the founder, is always available and has gone out of his way to be helpful in advising us and counseling us on various tech and security issues. And he was up until well past midnight working with us when we got hacked at a wifi coffee house.

    Ivan’s number is 888-745-8436, extension 1

  5. I’d also suggest Earthsite – but then again, I work for them! (That’s the day job I’m always telling you about Siel ;) Averan and I work on the web design team.)
So…kind of self-promoting;) Although, LAGreenLiving – our separate venture – is powered by Earthsite’s hosting company – sustainablehosting.com. They’re worth checking out in your green hosting comparison shopping!
