Tuesday questions: Tooling around

90961081 963ed50410 m Tuesday questions: Tooling aroundA series that runs every Tuesday, where I ask questions unrelated to the environment, fair trade, or local politics that I’ve been wondering about but haven’t been able to google the answers to. Any advice is appreciated.

Ok — I’m late with these, again. Oopsie.

I’m having some serious blog tool issues. For one, FeedBlitz — the app that lets people subscribe to green LA girl via email — is fucking up. The prob seems to be with the word verification system — which just keeps saying I messed up. But I haven’t — I mean, I haven’t had anything to drink today, yet. Is this a consistent problem? Should I switch e-subscription providers? And if so, to what? [Update, 3/27/06: The Feedblitz problem has been fixed! Thanks to Phil at Feedblitz for debugging --]

My wistlist too is having problems, cuz Wists is having probs. Usually, it works just fine, but lately, Wists has been going down occasionally — which ends up making the main green LA girl page take forever to load. Has this been a prob for you?

I need to repaint my room, cuz I accidentally splashed red wine onto some of the walls. You know, it happens. My choices — buying new eco-friendly paint, prolly Anna Sova, or using up the un-eco-friendly paint that’s been in my mom’s garage. What’s the better environmental choice — Saving the already-bought “conventional” paint from going to the landfills? Or supporting the eco-paint industry with a new purchase?

  1. I’m actually working on a post about paint…to skip to the punchline for your benefit, I would actually dispose of your mom’s paint with whomever deals with hazardous waste in your area. As paint dries, smog-producing pollutants are released. The VOCs are also bad for your health personally.

  2. How did you accidentaly splash–nevermind.

Sounds like Jasmin’s well-educated about this issue.

If I recall correctly, you have allergies too. People with pre-existing conditions like allergies and/or asthma may be more affected by those nasty VOCs. They can trigger an allergic reaction or asthma attack on the spot. Even if that doesn’t happen, breathing in those fumes while you paint and while the paint dries seems kind of ominous.

  3. Ok — I bought a lil sample size of Anna Sova cream paint — Will let you know how it goes :)
