A series that runs every Tuesday, where I ask questions unrelated to the environment, fair trade, or local politics that I’ve been wondering about but haven’t been able to google the answers to. Any advice is appreciated.
Due to the USFT convergence in Denver last weekend, I totally forgot about my Tuesday questions. Thus, here they are now, 5 days belatedly:
When does blog-stalking become too much?
a) When the blogfan starts calling every night. You screen the call and don’t answer, but you start questing your sanity about giving your number out in the first place. In your defense, this someone lives thous of miles away and seemed “safe” at the time.
b) When the blogfan says he/she needs a vacay, and asks if he/she can crash on your couch for 10 days or so while visiting SoCal. When you ask how the blogfan will get around lalaland (cuz you have classes and other obligations), the blogfan says he/she assumed you’d spend all your time together.
c) When the blogfan makes and sends you a mixed CD, with a 4-page letter outlining the reasons why he/she picked the songs on the CDs.
d) When the blogfan writes numerous blog posts about you, inspiring a friend to start a myspace campaign to get you to give the blogfan “a chance.”
Which Six Feet Under character do you most relate to? Cuz I fucking love the show –

“b” actually happened to a friend of mine, who, being the selfless, gracious host she is (read: doormat), took a week off of work to show blogfan the sights, and then took her along on a weekend camping trip with her friends. it was awkward to say the least. once blogfan returned home, my friend cut off all contact with blogfan, who was surprised and hurt. the end.

“a” – just don’t pick up. Period.
“b” – anything longer than a weekend is too much to expect when no meeting face-to-face has occurred (taking a week off of work is WAY too much to ask)
“c” is just plain goofy – why anyone would give a crap is hard to see. Erase the songs and burn your own.
“d” – ah, huh? Stupid.
Who are “Six Feet Under” anyway? Never heard of ‘em.
On a personal note, wish me a happy birthday. I can’t believe I turn 31 tomorrow.

Well — I’m glad to hear I’m not a doormat :)
But what if the mixed CD is quite good and the letter’s humorous and wry, and the blogfan’s a good writer and in general a standup person, as far as you can tell? Not that many people have good taste in music… and it’s always interesting to hear why people like the music they like… unless it’s crappy music, which in this case it is not…
A guy I went on a date with once told me he thought Justin Timberlake was “edgy.”
Six Feet Under’s a TV show. Happy birthday, Fletch :)

Haaaaaaaaaaa. Justin Timberlake is about as “”"”"edgy”"”"” as Garth Brooks.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. I spent it in the company of the “perfect” father, like last year’s.

are a-d all from the same blogfan, or do you have multiple stalkers? nate is my fav 6 ft under character. it was sealed when i saw him in nyc with his own little kid and he couldn’t have been cuter w/ him (or her – the child was too small to truly tell the sex).
