[The kickoff post's here]

Lincoln can be a kind of ugly street — perhaps because it’s a car-centric road that’s heavily trafficked. That said, the road’s got a lot of character.

Pretty skies, flowering trees, creative street art — And lots of classic stores with interesting signage.
Want coffee? There’s Legal Grind, where you can get your latte with free legal advice.
The coffee comes from Groundwork, which roasts fairly traded coffee and is switching to biodegradables besides — though I’m not sure if the bio switch’ll happen at all the individual cafes that buy Groundwork Coffee.
And you can’t forget Velocity Cafe — A very local, very quirky coffee shop that also serves Groundwork Coffee, with yummy sandwiches and other munchies.
Lincoln’s supposed to be a bike route, but since there’s no bike lane, and since the streets are quite narrow and congested with cars going on and off the 10 freeway, it’s really, really not a pleasant place to bike.
On the upside, the Big Blue Bus 3 will whisk you down Lincoln to LAX if you’re travelling –
There’s Bay Cities Italian Deli and Bakery, which doesn’t sound particularly eco, but which many Santa Monica people swear by — Summer loves their caprese sandwich –

And there’s Santa Monica’s fave Polish restaurant Warszawa — Again, not eco, but, um, Polish, with a spacious patio and a happy hour that goes until 7:30.
On the northern end, Lincoln turns residential, making it more amenable to joggers and cyclers –

Lincoln is the focus and inspiration of our street improvement social media project. Imagine networked neighbors using collaborative web tools to define, scope, and meet up to carry out blight abatement projects. I would like to tell you more about it if you are interested. We could use input from Green LA girl.
