A twice-weekly sharing of eco-shwag.
Today’s freebie is a 4-pack of tickets to the L.A. Auto Show at the L.A. Convention Center, 1201 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles — good for any day from Fri., Dec. 4 to Sun., Dec. 13.
An auto show in itself isn’t green, of course, but for the first time, the L.A. Auto Show will have some new, almost-ready-for-showrooms electric cars that eco-activist groups like Plug In America have been pushing for — and protesting for — the last few years.
Just a couple years back, environmentalists held demonstrations at the L.A. Auto Show asking for higher fuel efficiency and electric cars. Now these cars are pretty close to reality — and at the show itself.
Comment by Tuesday to get into the drawing, which’ll happen Wednesday (more info on freebies here). Tickets will be held at will call.

Definitely in for this one….I’ve been waiting to see the electrics at a real auto show for years. Back in 2003 we organized a festival called AltWheels in Boston at the Museum of Transportation that is now one of the largest festivals for alternative fuel vehicles. I love the alt energy movement but would love to see it go more mainstream.

I’ve kind of secretly wanted to go to the LA Auto Show for the last few years. Yay!

I LOVE car shows! Takes me back being a child and the fascination with these huge hunks of metal that took me places magically.

Being Green and all, I think we’ll look back on cars as a weird artifact of the 20th Century, but I sure understand the fascination with the magical machines that go fast and make loud noises!

Hey – I’ll bike to the auto show!
FYI: bike parking is usually either with the strollers on the down a stair on the right rear of the main lobby or with the valets to the left of the main entrance. As always use a good lock…

Hah – checked the LA Convention Center site for Bike parking:
Bicycle parking is available in two locations—outside South Lobby by Figueroa Drive and outside West Lobby by Gilbert Lindsay Drive.

Thanks.

Sounds like a fabulous roadtrip to the convention center for the intern team to check out the next generation Prius! Count the OG team in.

Joe Anthony is the lucky winner! Ironically, Joe’s an avid bike enthusiast. Will he be cycling to the Convention Center, using the tips Eric’s kindly provided?
