A twice-weekly sharing of eco-shwag.

Wednesday freebies: Day without a Bag edition

Tomorrow’s the annual Day Without A Bag, when everyone’s encouraged to forgo the disposable bag and bring their own reusable ones.

To encourage that eco-habit, lots of companies will be giving out free bags around the city — and I’ll be giving away a bunch here!

This bag’s made of polypropylene, which the company says is 100% recyclable — but isn’t going to actually be recycled at most recycling facilities. The bag was also made in China — though a little notation says it was made under fair wage / fair labor conditions.

The bag, unfortunately, is made in China. And in the absence of a tag, I’m left to conclude that the bag’s probably made of conventional cotton….

You can use it as a grain or produce bag — or even a shoe bag :) I got this bag in my Designers and Agents shwag bag, courtesy of eco-personal care store Futurenatural.

And for those of you who already have enough reusable bags — heed the bag rule and resist the urge to take another bag home just because it’s free. A reusable bag that sits unused isn’t eco-friendly….
